I have had an entrepreneurial spirit for as long as I can remember. Reaching a milestone such as one year in a business of my very own, is really amazing to me.
I have alway sought a way to harness my creative energy, provide for my family, and interact with people. This business, this accidental creation has afforded me all of those things. I am a stay at home mom to three awesome and energetic little people. They keep me running, and on my toes. They keep me on the edge of sanity most days also! After six years of staying at home and raising these three crazies I started feeling the urge to venture back into the world, and started searching. I prayed, cried, prayed, talked to my husband, talked to my friends, prayed some more. One day I was approached to create some custom prop pieces for a very talented photographer friend of mine, one thing led to another and I was soon accompanying her to sessions, and helping with some set staging. This fine lady was instrumental in the creation of Little Mother Photography. After receiving a camera for Christmas I was staging some sets for my little ones, one friend asked if I could do some of her little one, then another and viola I was in business. Placing adds, doing sessions for free, taking classes, reading, asking a bazillion questions, and soaking up every bit of information I could find about being a professional photographer. That is how I have spent the first year of this venture. Supported by some amazing people, my husband who is awesome and always encouraging, even when it means some late nights putting kids to bed by himself. My parents, and in-laws for loaning props, watching kids, and being supportive. My friends, gosh with out you all to watch my kids, let me practice on your kids, and just letting me know that I don't stink, and that business will grow organically and naturally. Also those same friends for carrying my cards around, and always sending people my way Thank YOU! The mentors in this area for aspiring photographers are so awesome, there are some amazingly talented people who are so willing to share their knowledge and that is worth its weight in gold. My babies, who suffer through countless sessions, let me practice on them, and put up with me spending time on the computer to communicate with clients, edit images, and promote this business. With out my village this would not even have been a possibility for this to be a possibility. Lastly I really couldn't be a business with out my clients, you all, reading this right now thank you for trusting your precious little ones and precious memories to me and my vision. This last year has been a huge adventure, a new balance for my family, and for me personally the realization of a dream I didn't even know I harbored. I envision many more years of sweet little babies, and messy smash cakes, the miracle of birth, and mommas with bellies full of babies. Thank you to everyone! Please pop by Saturday the 28th from 2-4 to help celebrate Little Mother Photography's first anniversary, enter to win the drawing and snag a cupcake! Kandi
