Every hear the expression "small but mighty?" This kid is that! Such a tiny little fellow, and 5 lb plus when he was born. He was by far the smallest baby I have had in the studio. But my oh my he has a presence. He didn't fuss, or cry, he didn't throw a fit when I tried to pose him, he was calm, and totally at ease with being handled and posed. His presence came in the gentle nature of his little baby self. He really was just so somber and pensive, taking in his surroundings, observing and being content.
This little guy is a snuggler, we snuggled several times through out his session, and he really was just so content and easy going. His momma was so great. I love working with friends, it makes me feel so blessed to see their families grow, to watch them become mommas and love their babies. Such a blessing. His momma, was no exception, she was happy for me to work with him and totally trusted me to take care of her baby, but boy the joy in her eyes when I was done and she could hold, and kiss her baby was really awesome. You may not know, but during a newborn session it is easier and smoother if mom doesn't handle baby too much. I usually try to do most of the diaper, clothing, wrapping etc with baby. Why? Because I don't smell good and am boring to baby, mom smells like food! Typically this means baby is back to sleep right away, and I can get the session finished! Gregory's session was the first with a new lighting configuration, and I am so pleased with the results. He was a rock start for all of his poses, and even two costume changes. A special moment when I thought we were done, momma sat down to nurse him on set. Of course me being me, I snapped a few pictures of the two of them, how special it was when I learned that moment was a big one for them in their nursing relationship! Newborn sessions are my favorite, I love working with the tiny little beings, new to life. Such a blessing to be able to call this my profession. If you or some one you know needs some newborn photography work done please let me know. I would love to work with you and your baby. Here are my favorite outtakes from this session, it was difficult to choose as so many were just precious!
