You've got your family session all booked and planned. Now what? Time to pick out what to wear! Choosing outfits can be overwhelming and it's hard to know where to start. Here are some great tips and tricks to make your Little Mother Photography session the best possible. Stick to solids. Patterns and graphics can take away from your smiling faces. Consider dressing the family in solid colors instead. Matching colors is a great idea. Putting everyone in the same color is a good way to make everything look cohesive. Shades of some colors can be difficult to match, so consider matching whites and blacks, or (sometimes better), choose a great accent color. Instead of washing everyone out with a bold color choose a bold color to use as an accent. Wearing patterns? Don't get too crazy! Buffalo plaid is always nice (in moderation), minimal floral accents are also beautiful. Leave the hats, sunglasses at home. Don't get too crazy with accessories and things that cover your face. You want your faces to be the focal point of your portraits, these things can be distracting! I'll always do everything I can to help you look your best. It helps when you do your part too! Planning outfits well in advance helps you to relax and take the pressure off the day of photos. You should enjoy your portrait session experience, and it will help you if you feel and look your best!

Take a look at your favorite pictures of your children… Where are you in these images? If you’re like me, you’re the one taking the photos, or maybe you have a few cute selfies with you in them as well. I want to challenge you to get in front of the camera! Years from now your children will want to see you in the pictures. They won’t care that you still have some baby weight, that your hair isn’t exactly how you want it to be. They’ll remember the moment, your smile and laugh. They’ll cherish the memory. I am so excited for this upcoming mini session: “Mommy and Me”! We’re making memories; not just taking photos. These images are designed to be treasured for generations. Each session is styled individually to make you look and feel beautiful. I’ll work with you to find an outfit that you feel fantastic in. I’m highly experienced in finding flattering angles and lighting for you to look your best. I know how important it is to feel comfortable and relaxed during the shoot. Most importantly? These sessions are designed to be fun! I’m after real, genuine laughs and smiles. This is a time for you and your children to relax, have fun, and make memories. After your session, we’ll work together to select images that you LOVE, and, if you’d like, I can use some of my Photoshop magic to help you look like your best self ;) To book your special Mommy and Me session during my upcoming event Saturday, March 30, please check out this link. There are approximately 2 dozen alpacas at Sutton at Home Alpaca Farm. They can’t wait to meet you!
Last week was mother’s day, I’d like to take the time to honor a very special mother: Rhiannon Lindley. Rhiannon is one of the bravest, sweetest and strongest women I know; she’s amazing. Rhiannon and her husband have four beautiful children ranging in ages from 5 to just a few months; the couple is also the primary caregiver for her brother. Rhiannon recently completed nursing school not an easy task for anyone, but she was also pregnant at the time! The family has experienced a lot of challenges and struggles in the past few years, including her husband losing his job, they had a house fire, and, perhaps most devastating Rhiannon was diagnosed with Acute b Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia. I was honored to photograph this beautiful family in this special session. I hope you’ll take the time to read more about Rhiannon Lindley’s story and consider giving to her GoFundMe page.
Oh, sweet Emily! How gorgeous are you in that stunning orchid pink? Emily’s mom requested pinks and florals, and Little Mother Photography was delighted to play with the beautiful color spectrum, perfect for spring! Emily was sweet and sleepy for her session (which is perfect for newborn photos!), but her personality still managed to show through. What an amazing little girl. Emily’s mom, Jessica visited us for her maternity session a few months ago. It’s easy to see where Emily gets her good looks from! This maternity session was one of my favorites of all time.
Cooper’s mom, Tonya, and I go way back; before kids, husbands, or college. Tonya is one of the bravest, most beautiful people I know (inside and out!), and I am so HONORED to be a part of her baby story. We photographed Tonya’s pregnancy with Cooper’s older brother, Gregory, as well as his first year. Now, it was Cooper’s turn. First: the announcement! Little Mother Photography was so excited to be able to help the couple share their BIG news! In Tonya’s third trimester we captured some absolutely BREATHTAKING maternity images. Tonya looks like an absolute GODDESS. And how sweet is this moment between Gregory and his mama? That little Mohawk, giving Eskimo kisses…perfection. And finally, when Cooper came into the world I was so excited to take his newborn photos. His session was designed to work with the colors used in his big brother’s sessions. We LOVE when clients work with us with the end goal of printing and hanging our work! The greys and blues of Cooper’s set will look wonderful displayed next to Gregory’s. Cooper was a perfect gentleman for his session, and slept like a rock (a newborn photographer’s DREAM model!) Mom and Cooper took a nursing break, where he ate like a champ, then went right back to sleep. The little guy did not go to the bathroom on set once. Another local photographer from Missouri University of Science and Technology came to observe the session; what a treat for him to watch such a wonderful, cooperative baby! We’ve been with Cooper from announcements, gender reveal, maternity and now newborn! I love watching my friends grow and their lives change. It’s even better when I get to be a part of their story, documenting it for them.
Little Mother Photography was live on location this week! I was blessed to be welcomed into little Victoria’s home for these stunning shots! This hybrid of lifestyle and posed newborn session turned out amazing. How proud (and gorgeous?!) are this new mother and father? It was such a joy to work in such a stunning nursery, lovely home, and beautiful family. What could make this photoshoot even more perfect? Puppies! This pair seems to be adjusting to older sibling life quite comfortably. Little Mother Photography is always happy to come to your home or shoot on location. When our clients are comfortable we are able to get the most amazing natural images. Interested in scheduling Little Mother Photography for a home lifestyle session? Contact us today!
Happy Monday! I’ve been so wonderfully busy and am excited to share some images from last week with you! This BEAUTIFUL little girl in purple is Jolene from Rolla. Not only was Jolene was an absolute doll and delightful to work with, but her siblings were too! Check out these cuties. They are so proud of their little baby sister. Little Mother Photography shops the globe to find the BEST accessories for our photoshoots. We really are a one-stop shop for outfits, accessories, headbands, hats, blankets, wraps. For Jolene’s photos the bonnet was from Riley’s Mom Makes Hats, the tie backs were purchased from The Dainty Miss, the fabrics she is laying on are from Freebird Props, and the gorgeous lace is from Namiko. I just can't get enough of this precious little girl! Check out more images from her gallery below.
