Christmas Time is here.

As I sit here typing this, we are experiencing the excitement and dread that accompanies the first snow of the year.

I am headed to the studio shortly to shoot the last round of Christmas Minis sessions. Just in time it appears!

This isn't the earliest snow we have had here in Central Mo, but they always catch me off guard and make me feel a little bit sad. I love watching my kids play in the snow, from the window, while sipping hot cocoa and wearing several layers of clothing.

I am not a cold weather person. I don't really enjoy being frozen and I certainly hate driving in the yuck.
I do like boots and sweaters and scarves, so some thing to look forward to.

However I do love Christmas and all things related to the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. As a photographer I am thinking about the holiday set as early as the post Christmas sales, (what better time to get things half price?).  This years set was all about the trees, I found an adorable backdrop, and after public opinion was vetted I ordered it. Geometric and colorful it is a departure from my normal choices but fun! To complement and keep it simple I just picked up some fun glittery cone trees, easy to stack and store and fun to decorate with. Creating a little mini forest for the little ones to pose with.

While my studio is currently covered in glitter, the trees are holding their own (though I don't see how, because seriously the glitter is everywhere the tree's should be bare) It is a fun set and the shoots have been a blast to work through. Kids are excited by the first taste of Christmas for the season, and post processing has been relatively easy for these.

Below are some of my favorites so far ... meaning I still have several  sessions to get edited, and shot. I will share more as they become finished.
I know it is still a little early, but really who doesn't love the holiday spirit?

Enjoy!

Stunning Senior, class of 2016

I do so enjoy when a family comes to me for all their photographic needs. There is something satisfying about knowing your clients is happy with your work.

This senior found me, via her little sisters newborn pictures, both girls are beautiful and have amazing heads of hair! Other than the hair the sessions didn't have so much in common, the differences between a newborn session and a senior session are vast!

However this was such a fun session to plan and execute. Miss A is an outdoorsy young lady who likes to hunt and enjoys being in nature. We totally tailored her session around her interests and played in the woods and fields to create a natural backdrop for her session.

We started in the chair of hair and make up artist, Erin at studio K, in St. James. After she was all glammed up we hit the woods.  Our first stop was a field with some beautiful tall grass that was a gorgeous golden tone. Then we ventured down to my favorite place to shoot. The Rock Wall, it never fails to deliver! We shot on the wall against the wall, in front of the wall, and across the road from the wall. Then we went behind the wall, and played in the water! Lastly we finished her session off in a plain old cow field. Dodging some cow patties, and searching out the shade, we waited for the clouds to pass over the sun and ended her session with an amazing collection of shots.

This entire session was so much fun, I enjoy chatting with Seniors, hearing their plans for college and learning how different things are from my high school/ college days. So refreshing, and encouraging to learn young people have plans and goals.

It isn't to late to schedule your senior session, studio and out doors, variety of locations and styles available. Call me today to get yours in the works, 573-864-0106.
