Prints, on my walls????? What?

7/26/2016

You mean to tell me I just had these pictures made, paid you for them, and now you want me pay up for prints for my walls. GASP!!!

No really why do you get pictures of your kids, family, newborn? What is the purpose of those images? Facebook? Emailing to family? To have those memories on a disk somewhere?  What happens when the power goes out? How about those folks who love your family and kids, that don't have a computer or access to one? What about your kids? When will they see those images?

The beauty of having professional photography done for you and your family is to display those images on walls, in frames, on canvas, and proudly for all to see. Your kids can't access your flash drive, pull up the correct file, and open the images from their newborn session. Your grandma who does not and never will own a computer can't open an email to see your little ones smiling faces.

However they can see wall art. Canvas's, prints, albums, and even mini albums. all of these are great wonderful ways to display your portraits. In my opinion bigger is better. I used to be a 4x6 or 5x7 kinda girl. Cram as many as I could on to a surface or a wall. But in recent years I have come to love the one special image that truly captures my kids personalities. And I want it big and beautiful on my wall. I recently ordered 20/24 prints of my kids faces. They are wonderful and I can not wait to get them hung. Even my husband is enchanted by the prints.  My kids are amazed, they keep asking to see their big picture, and asking when I am going to hang it.

How awesome is that? Just by bringing bigger images into my home, I have shown my kids how much we love them, brought my kids into my decor and surprised my husband with the scale of the prints, and quite frankly made my own day.
I love my kids, and these pieces will be on my walls for years and years, my grandkids will see these images.  As for my grandma, I mail her prints regularly, I know what sizes she needs and make sure she gets prints of my kiddos and family.

So print your pictures, fill your wall with that one image that speaks to your soul, and hang it where every one can see.

Lets Talk Summer Break

Lets take a break from the adorable baby goodness to have a frank conversation.

Summer Break

Lets be honest mommas, it one of those things we remember with fondness, but look forward to with cold sweats.

I love my kids, I love their energy, smiles, laughter, and creativity.

I however don't love it when the energy has no where to go during day five of summer showers.
I don't really enjoy when the smiles are because they hurt/tricked/tattled on/ etc  the other one.
I really don't love when the laughter is muffled and followed by "ssshhhhh moms going to hear".
And don't get me started on where the creativity can take those slightly bored brains, when coupled with a mud puddle, goggles, and a mini surf board.

It happens about the time you hit the midway point. The newness of the break has worn down, your vacation is no longer a source of anticipation, but a source of memories. Its still too soon to start getting ready for school, (except for me because I already got the school supplies bought!) This is when the destructive craziness happens.

For us its when I hear "I'm bored" "she's looking at me" and the best of the best, "She/He is in my room!"
followed by crying, and gnashing of teeth.

My ability to function as the smiley happy Mary Poppins momma of the first few weeks is slowly but surely dissipating. My smile is slipping, my patience is wearing thin, and there isn't nearly enough wine in the fridge for when Daddy gets home.

Any one else out there in this spot? Any one else out there questioning the ability to finance year round boarding school? Any one else trying to figure the validity of having an Au Pair even when you stay home all day???

I mean lets be real for a moment , how awesome would it be to not have to wake up at 5:45 am to a little boy making fart noises.  Or force feeding a cranky pre teen protein for breakfast before her attitude reaches epic proportions of sass. Or clean up yet another urine soaked Princess Sofia sheet set?

Ahh the simple wishes of a mom of three.

So I guess what this long winded blog post is really about is this. We only get them for 10 weeks out of 52. And while those weeks are really long, and sometimes seem endless. We should probably enjoy them a little more that we (I) do at times.

We should turn the fart noises into a beat box competition, find a way to make the sass a smile, and as for the pee sheets, invest in adult diapers for the kid who pees through a pull up.

Let the be little, laugh with them, tickle the stinky summer feet, sing silly songs, and give lots of popsicle kisses.

So with Summer Break being at its half way mark, I hope I remember to do those things. Because soon it will be fall, and I may miss my little turkeys.
