Cooper’s mom, Tonya, and I go way back; before kids, husbands, or college. Tonya is one of the bravest, most beautiful people I know (inside and out!), and I am so HONORED to be a part of her baby story.
We photographed Tonya’s pregnancy with Cooper’s older brother, Gregory, as well as his first year. Now, it was Cooper’s turn. First: the announcement! Little Mother Photography was so excited to be able to help the couple share their BIG news!
Picture
In Tonya’s third trimester we captured some absolutely BREATHTAKING maternity images. Tonya looks like an absolute GODDESS.

And how sweet is this moment between Gregory and his mama? That little Mohawk, giving Eskimo kisses…perfection.

And finally, when Cooper came into the world I was so excited to take his newborn photos. His session was designed to work with the colors used in his big brother’s sessions. We LOVE when clients work with us with the end goal of printing and hanging our work! The greys and blues of Cooper’s set will look wonderful displayed next to Gregory’s.
Cooper was a perfect gentleman for his session, and slept like a rock (a newborn photographer’s DREAM model!) Mom and Cooper took a nursing break, where he ate like a champ, then went right back to sleep. The little guy did not go to the bathroom on set once. Another local photographer from Missouri University of Science and Technology came to observe the session; what a treat for him to watch such a wonderful, cooperative baby!

We’ve been with Cooper from announcements, gender reveal, maternity and now newborn! I love watching my friends grow and their lives change. It’s even better when I get to be a part of their story, documenting it for them.

How proud (and gorgeous?!) are this new mother and father? It was such a joy to work in such a stunning nursery, lovely home, and beautiful family.

7 Tips for a Magical Unicorn Session

Little Mother Photography is so excited to share our upcoming special sessions: Unicorns! This magical day will be Saturday, April 28, 2018 in St. James. We’re looking all over the globe to find the finest dresses, headpieces, crowns and accessories to make the event even more magical!

Little Mother Photography did our first unicorn sessions last year and they were such a huge success! Last summer we filled up two full days of sessions; families traveled as far as Springfield, and Ozark, Missouri to meet Snowflake! If we were unable to accommodate you last year this is your chance to meet and have a special photography session with Snowflake the Unicorn!
Picture
Snowflake is a magnificent and well behaved unicorn, and we’ve never had any issues with her. That being said: working with animals always presents its own challenges, risks, and concerns! Everyone participating in the unicorn session is asked to complete a waiver form, which Little Mother will email you (if we haven’t already!)

7 Tips for Magical Unicorn Photos!
  1. You should know that Snowflake is a deaf unicorn. Her mainly white coat and bright blue eyes, (with irises splashing into the pupil) are very common in deaf animals. Perhaps because of her hearing impairment, Snowflake feels more comfortable when in the company of other horses. She most likely will have a friend (horse) with her during our session this year, be on the lookout for a friendly Clydesdale!
  2. Children should be accompanied by an adult, preferably a member of the Little Mother team whenever approaching Snowflake or her horse friends. We’ll have handlers and assistants on hand to make the interactions as easy and safe as possible.
  3. Everyone needs to be careful not to make any sudden movements or noises. Although Snowflake is deaf and may not hear the noises, her friends aren’t, and we wouldn’t want them to be shocked or scared! Snowflake may surprise you and nuzzle you, or brush her nose against you; it’s best if you’re prepared for this and don’t jump, jerk, or yank your hand away. We also need to be conscious of props and accessories. Swords, shields, flowy dresses, and umbrellas are beautiful and make for fun photos, but we need to be careful and conscious of how they are waved, moved, or even how they flow in the breeze.
  4. Never walk behind a unicorn (or horse). Horse’s vision is limited behind them, and they may get scared or startled if they see something behind them. Their rear legs are extremely strong and may cause harm if kicked or bucked! We want to make the unicorn (and horses) totally aware of our presence, walking in front at all times is always best.
  5. Watch out for unicorn pies! Unlike some of her other unicorn friends, Snowflake does not poop rainbows and sparkles. Watch where you step and avoid any large brown piles!
  6. We will be shooting outside! The most beautiful unicorn photos are shot in the tall grass; which in Missouri of course means the possibility of mud, insects, ticks, plants (poison ivy, oak, etc.), burs, etc. Open toed shoes are super cute, but the child may have to be carried to the unicorn. If you bring your own outfit please know it may get muddy!
  7. Depending on the child’s, parent’s, and, most importantly, the unicorn’s comfort level: children may be able to get on Snowflake’s back! This is not always possible, but when it does happen it can result in some truly magical images. If your child is interested in getting on Snowflake please be sure to arrive early (to get everyone comfortable around each other), warn them that it may not happen (we hate to have their hopes disappointed), and we’ll all try our best to make it happen.

Our special unicorn session includes access to our wardrobe and accessories, time with me (Snowflake), and 8 fully edited magical images with full sharing rights for $225. Additional children (or adults) in the photos are an additional $50 each (and include 2 bonus digital files). (Children under the age of 1 will need an adult in the photo with them, this does NOT cost extra).

Only a few spots remain. Contact us to book your session today! littlemotherphotography@gmail.com.
