Worrying about the logistic and other details with your newborn session can be stressful and overwhelming! Little Mother Photography does everything we can to address your biggest fears and concerns regarding this very special photo session.
Appearance of Baby:
Certain newborn characteristics of newborns may concern new parents, and they many not want them showcased in their images. For example, flaking skin, baby acne, jaundice or other skin colorization can all be corrected in post edit (if you want them to be!) Kandi is an experienced and talented Photoshop guro who has perfected her technique to create beautiful, natural-looking edits. Kandi never re-touches more than you’re comfortable with, but will gladly work with you to remove any areas of concerns that you don’t want in these portraits.
Appearance of Mama:
Newborn portraits are most magical and successful when done in the first week of life. Most mothers are not looking (what they consider to be) their “best” at a few days postpartum. If your newborn package includes photos with the mother (and father), please note that Little Mother Photography will do everything we can to have the new parents looking spectacular! We can advise you on what to (or not) wear, use flattering posing techniques and angles and lighting, and of course offer some TLC in the post editing process. We also have a wardrobe for expecting and new mothers that you’re welcome to browse and utilize if you’d like! Our collection of gowns, and accessories is ever-growing, and quite impressive! These images will be treasured in your family for generations, we know how important it is that you look and feel your best.
Cleanliness and Germs:
Little Mother Photography cleans the studio, props, accessories, wardrobe, etc. in between each and every client. We use bleach wipes, germ-x, soap and water. The entire Little Mother Photography team is uptodate on vaccines and immunizations; including the MMR whooping cough vaccine and seasonal flu shots. We will not hesitate to cancel a session if the photographer is not feeling well or if there is any chance of us spreading an illness.
Dressing the Baby:
In addition to a full wardrobe for mothers (as mentioned above), our newborn clothing and accessory options are seemingly endless. Seriously, Kandi may have a slight shopping addiction when it comes to things beautiful, delicate, and PERFECT for your baby to wear. There is absolutely no need for you to waste your money on clothing and props on something your child will only wear once. Like our mother’s wardrobe, our children’s options are free to use for our clients and included with our packages!
Getting the family up, dressed, and to a photography appointment (with a newborn nonetheless) can seem overwhelming and an impossible task. We understand this and are happy to come to you! We offer on-location photo shoots at your house, or another place of your choosing. It’s amazing what beautiful, natural, cozy images we can capture outside of the location in your home.

Last week was mother’s day, I’d like to take the time to honor a very special mother: Rhiannon Lindley. Rhiannon is one of the bravest, sweetest and strongest women I know; she’s amazing.
Rhiannon and her husband have four beautiful children ranging in ages from 5 to just a few months; the couple is also the primary caregiver for her brother.
Rhiannon recently completed nursing school not an easy task for anyone, but she was also pregnant at the time! The family has experienced a lot of challenges and struggles in the past few years, including her husband losing his job, they had a house fire, and, perhaps most devastating Rhiannon was diagnosed with Acute b Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
I was honored to photograph this beautiful family in this special session.
I hope you’ll take the time to read more about Rhiannon Lindley’s story and consider giving to her GoFundMe page.
Oh, sweet Emily! How gorgeous are you in that stunning orchid pink? Emily’s mom requested pinks and florals, and Little Mother Photography was delighted to play with the beautiful color spectrum, perfect for spring!
Emily was sweet and sleepy for her session (which is perfect for newborn photos!), but her personality still managed to show through. What an amazing little girl.
Emily’s mom, Jessica visited us for her maternity session a few months ago. It’s easy to see where Emily gets her good looks from! This maternity session was one of my favorites of all time.
Little Mother Photography is starting an exciting new Studio Rep. Program! These reps Will be an integral part of our new marketing platform, to help the studio grow!

Little Mother Photography LOVES photographing newborns… of any species!
Recently, we’ve had some furry critters come into the studio for a shoot… and let me tell you- it was a BLAST! It’s always fun and exciting to mix things up, and we love capturing images of these cute animals.
Little Mother Photography can also incorporate animals into your family portraits, just check out how this family included these older (furrier) siblings in their newborn shoot:
Check out some more images from our recent animal photo shoots below!
We’ve been busy! The Little Mother Photography team was in Saint Louis earlier this week at Shutterfest. This annual photography conference helps us improve our skills, come up with fresh and new ideas, especially for our maternity clients!
We furthered our education in technical aspects keeping up on what’s new with search engine optimization and social media. We are eager to apply what we learned to our current and future website clients.
When you buy a session with the Little Mother Photography team you’re getting more than just your images, you’re getting our time, education, experience, and expertise. We’d love to book a session with you. Contact us today.

Happy Easter! At Little Mother Photography I had the pleasure of shooting these newborns not too long ago. They're a little harrier than the newborns I'm used to working with, but they were just as sweet and cute!
These adorable fluff balls belong to Shanna Simms. I have worked with Shanna to capture beautiful images of her last human baby, so bunny babies seemed like a great idea! Photographing five bunnies in the studio was hilarious, and proved to be challenging! We got all five into swaddles, and they all fell asleep during the shoot; except for one little white girl, she was wide awake and wiggley!
Thank goodness no one pooped on set.
Little Mother Photography loves babies, furry or not, and as always, these babies were treated with the upmost love, care and respect.
Have a wonderful holiday, everybunny!
Everyone, meet Maggie, my spirit animal. Instead of a traditional smash cake she opted for some finger lickin' good Kentucky Fried Chicken! Maggie and I go way back, all the way to her birth. It's such a wonderful experience to watch these little babies grow up!
Maggie, also known as Maggzilla, is not afraid to speak her mind, a trait I admire in a young lady. She preferred the chicken to cake. Magzilla was thrilled to dig into her meal. Being the youngest of three brothers she probably has to speak up to be heard. She sure enjoyed having a little snack break all to herself; there was no sharing that biscuit!
KFC of Rolla was so kind to share all the special decor we used for her set! I love working with local businesses!
What do you think? How much do you LOVE these images? Comment below.
Cooper’s mom, Tonya, and I go way back; before kids, husbands, or college. Tonya is one of the bravest, most beautiful people I know (inside and out!), and I am so HONORED to be a part of her baby story.
We photographed Tonya’s pregnancy with Cooper’s older brother, Gregory, as well as his first year. Now, it was Cooper’s turn. First: the announcement! Little Mother Photography was so excited to be able to help the couple share their BIG news!
In Tonya’s third trimester we captured some absolutely BREATHTAKING maternity images. Tonya looks like an absolute GODDESS.
And how sweet is this moment between Gregory and his mama? That little Mohawk, giving Eskimo kisses…perfection.
And finally, when Cooper came into the world I was so excited to take his newborn photos. His session was designed to work with the colors used in his big brother’s sessions. We LOVE when clients work with us with the end goal of printing and hanging our work! The greys and blues of Cooper’s set will look wonderful displayed next to Gregory’s.
Cooper was a perfect gentleman for his session, and slept like a rock (a newborn photographer’s DREAM model!) Mom and Cooper took a nursing break, where he ate like a champ, then went right back to sleep. The little guy did not go to the bathroom on set once. Another local photographer from Missouri University of Science and Technology came to observe the session; what a treat for him to watch such a wonderful, cooperative baby!
We’ve been with Cooper from announcements, gender reveal, maternity and now newborn! I love watching my friends grow and their lives change. It’s even better when I get to be a part of their story, documenting it for them.
