Ideally for a newborn session, baby is super sleepy and very easy to maneuver and pose. As long as I keep the room and my hands warm, typically I have no real issues.
Usually when baby is awake, they are fussy, and cranky, hungry, wet, or gassy, rarely do we get a happy, wide awake, newborn!
This little guy proved to be the exception to the rule. He is starting out early in proving momma wrong, usually they wait a little bit before acting just like your mentioned they don't.
However despite being awake and alert for his entire session, he managed to stay in his swaddling, and even held a few poses with out any assistance.
Personally I like newborn pictures with eyes closed, they look so sweet and peaceful. And lets be honest new babies sleep all the time!
So in an effort to replicate the sleeping baby look, I tried to push the shutter button when he blinked. He was very sleepy, so was able to shoot around several long blinks. I would say if you didn't know better one would think we was crashed out!
Here are a few of my favorites from his time in the studio, Enjoy!
